Entertaining

Hey y'all!  How are you?  Are you eagerly anticipating the holidays or are you already drowning in to-do lists?  I look forward to this time of year just like a kid.  And for me, the holidays start with decorating our home.  I can hardly wait until the day after Thanksgiving when it all starts.   When my children were younger my goal was to make our home feel magical.  Well, the boys are past those innocent years now.  Still, I guess I want a bit of magic even now.  I want our home to feel festive and be memorable for my family and any of our friends ...

Hey y'all.  Are you in full holiday mode yet?  I am busy making my list....make that lists... and checking them daily trying to get things done.  Between the decorating, party planning, and gift giving my mind is always going.  Well today, while I'm out celebrating my birthday, I thought I would help you (and Mr. LouiseMarie) with some things that are on wish lists of the women on your gift giving list.  These are sure to make your Christmas shopping easier or maybe you should share this post with a loved one. #senditotohubby First up, how about a new fragrance?  I have been hearing all ...

Oh my goodness!  I look forward to decorating for the holidays all year long.  Some people count down until Christmas.  Not me.  I count down until time to decorate.  I'm not even joking.  Seriously, I look forward to it like nothing else.  Then I generally get stressed out while I'm doing it.  But in the end, I always love the result.  Today, I thought we could kick off the holiday decorating season with some awesome holiday front doors.  We want our guests to feel welcome right?  And, it sure makes a statement to anyone who passes by as well.  These pics that I've found have ...

One of my most cherished family traditions is that of our Thanksgiving tablecloth.
Good morning. I wrote and scheduled this post  for today before the events of yesterday unfolded.  Now, it seems so trivial to talk about this when so many others are deeply hurting.  My heart is heavy today.  It seems like a violent event is playing out on the TV every time I turn around.  This world we are living in makes it challenging to keep your faith, especially in light of what happened In a small town church in Sutherland yesterday.  Still I pray.  I am praying for our world and especially for anyone who has been touched by yesterday's violence.  I pray that the ...

Hello friends!  How are you?  i thought last week was going to put me right off the edge, but I'm still here. 🙂  I'm sure I will have plenty more to say about that later, but today, it's all about my Ears & Beers party that I hosted.  Where did I hear about an Ears & Beers party?  I have no idea ~ probably Southern Living magazine.  I can say that I have wanted to host this party for several years, and I am thrilled that I finally got to do it.  Today, I'm sharing how I put it together and how you can host ...

So, when you ...

Hi there.  How are you?  I am seriously struggling these days.  Son #2 leaves for Navy boot camp in about 9 days.  I cannot even put into words the struggle I am having, but more on that later.  (although, if anyone has any advice for me, please send it my way!)  Today I wanted to talk about Halloween costumes.  Some of you have maybe already run out and purchased a costume for you or your kiddos.  Some of you, like me, may still not even know what you're doing.  And maybe some of you, again like  me, do not enjoy dressing up for Halloween.  It's ...

So, I was dog-sitting for a friend a week ago.  As I turned on to her street I noticed an adorable pumpkin in one of the yards.  It had the family's name on it  Then, I noticed that ALL the houses on the street had one.  Right then I knew I had to make my own hand-lettered pumpkin for my front yard.  Can you even imagine how adorable it was to see the whole street with these pumpkins?  Trust me, you need one.  For that matter, so do your neighbors. This is such an easy project, and I can't wait to share it with you.  In ...

The Halloween Witch was my invention to get rid of all that candy.
Hi there friends.  I have a confession to make...I invented a holiday tradition out of thin air all in an effort to get rid of all that trick or treat candy.  And, I'm not even sorry.  That's right.  I concocted the "Halloween Witch."   For years she visited our home ~ even after my boys did not want to give up their candy.  Let me fill you in. Maybe it was my fear of actually eating all the Halloween candy if left in my home and then gaining weight.  Have I mentioned I'm totally neurotic about that?  Or perhaps it was my desire to be ...

Hi there!  If you follow me on Facebook, you know that I saw an adorable pumpkin a few weeks ago, and I said that I would make one for my house by October 1st.  Well, guess what?  I did it!  I have decoupaged an adorable pumpkin to add to my fall decor  It was so super easy and took only about an hour.  So today I am going to show you mine and tell you how you can make your own. First, you need to get a cheap pumpkin - it can be super ugly because you are going to cover it.  I picked up ...
