Holiday

Happy Friday friends!  I am beyond ready for the weekend! So, what are you doing this weekend?  I am hosting a party, and I am looking forward to having friends over to celebrate the season.  I'll make sure to post the details and pics soon.  In the meantime I thought I'd share a few quick pics to show I do Fall decor in my home.  I'm not an expert by any stretch; however, I am a firm believer in looking at lots of pics to get ideas for myself.   So, maybe these pics will give you some ideas you can use as well. So, when you ...

Hi there.  How are you?  I am seriously struggling these days.  Son #2 leaves for Navy boot camp in about 9 days.  I cannot even put into words the struggle I am having, but more on that later.  (although, if anyone has any advice for me, please send it my way!)  Today I wanted to talk about Halloween costumes.  Some of you have maybe already run out and purchased a costume for you or your kiddos.  Some of you, like me, may still not even know what you're doing.  And maybe some of you, again like  me, do not enjoy dressing up for Halloween.  It's ...

So, I was dog-sitting for a friend a week ago.  As I turned on to her street I noticed an adorable pumpkin in one of the yards.  It had the family's name on it  Then, I noticed that ALL the houses on the street had one.  Right then I knew I had to make my own hand-lettered pumpkin for my front yard.  Can you even imagine how adorable it was to see the whole street with these pumpkins?  Trust me, you need one.  For that matter, so do your neighbors. This is such an easy project, and I can't wait to share it with you.  In ...

The Halloween Witch was my invention to get rid of all that candy.
Hi there friends.  I have a confession to make...I invented a holiday tradition out of thin air all in an effort to get rid of all that trick or treat candy.  And, I'm not even sorry.  That's right.  I concocted the "Halloween Witch."   For years she visited our home ~ even after my boys did not want to give up their candy.  Let me fill you in. Maybe it was my fear of actually eating all the Halloween candy if left in my home and then gaining weight.  Have I mentioned I'm totally neurotic about that?  Or perhaps it was my desire to be ...

Hi there!  If you follow me on Facebook, you know that I saw an adorable pumpkin a few weeks ago, and I said that I would make one for my house by October 1st.  Well, guess what?  I did it!  I have decoupaged an adorable pumpkin to add to my fall decor  It was so super easy and took only about an hour.  So today I am going to show you mine and tell you how you can make your own. First, you need to get a cheap pumpkin - it can be super ugly because you are going to cover it.  I picked up ...

Today it's all about fall and celebrating the season with a Fall Bucket List.  Why?  Well, I was at a party recently and was chatting it up with a sweet friend.  I have kind of kept my blogging life semi-secret, meaning I had not shared it with friends.  Then it kind of started being found.  Can I just say that blogging would be so much easier if it could be anonymous.  I find myself worrying about what to write for fear of being judged.  Silly, right? Anyway, back to the conversation.  She said that she would really like me to come up with a post ...

Hello friends!  I am so excited to share this post with you today.  I've been working on it in my head for quite a while.  Now, I'm ready to 'go public' with it.  The truth of the matter is that this idea is straight out of my childhood.  Do you have any memories of gifts that for whatever reason were simply "magical" for you?  This balloon topiary was just that for me. So, my sister received a balloon, I'm calling it, topiary, or something like this when she was five years old and in the hospital.  See?  It wasn't even for me, but I still ...

Hello friends!  I was not intending to talk about decorating and celebrating the 4th of July.  We usually mark the day with gathering with friends (maybe) and end the day with a fireworks display.  There are plenty to choose from around our town.  Don't get me wrong.  It's not that I'm not patriotic.  It's just that by July 4th, it is H.O.T. around here and we tend to either be in a pool or inside.  There's never been much of a point to go to a lot of trouble decorating.  However, now with son #2 on his way to the Navy, it is very fitting ...

mothers day - don't buy this
We're all friends here right?  Yes?  Okay then I am going to get real about Mother's Day and what we moms really want and what we DO NOT want.  First of all, let's talk about what Mother's Day is.  It's a day to show our love and appreciation for the moms in our lives.  The women who gave us life, cared for us, taught us to be the people we are today, and are still in our corner cheering us on all the time.  There is nothing like the unconditional love of a mother. I think it's safe to say that most mothers spend the majority ...

Easter table 2
Hello friends!  We are officially into spring and well on our way to Easter Sunday.  I don't know about you, but Easter is definitely one of those days when my family gathers together to celebrate.  I love to host our family celebrations, and I like to make things special.  This includes setting  a beautiful table for our guests.  So, today, I'd like to show you three ideas for dressing up your Easter table.  However these ideas will also work for a simple luncheon or any kind of dinner party. Table 1 For this table, I wanted something simple and pretty.  So, I chose to use ...
