Hodgepodge – I’ve Got Your Number

Hodgepodge – I’ve Got Your Number

Hi there.  If you are new around here, welcome!  I’m so glad you are stopping by today.  You might be visiting because today is Hodgepodge day.  If you’re new around here, Hodgepodge day is the day where I join with other bloggers to answer the questions from From This Side of the Pond.  It’s kind of fun and random, but a great way to get to know each other.  So, without further ado, let’s get right to this week’s questions.

1.  In a rut, in a jam, in the groove, out of synch, off balance, out of touch…which saying best fits some area of your life currently (or recently)? Explain.

Out of synch describes my life at work right now.  I feel scattered and am having a hard time concentrating…I’m not sure if I am spread too thin or just distracted since son #2 left for Navy boot camp.  It’s not really like me to not be “on top of things;” however, these days I’m just not.  I guess it could also be the upcoming holidays.  They are my favorite time of year; however, they are also when things get super busy and I have a lot of balls to keep in the air if you know what I mean.

2. What is it about somebody else’s style of work (coworker/employee/shared volunteer project/household chore) that makes you crazy? Why?

Oh my gosh!  It’s Mr. LouiseMarie without a doubt.  It’s the way he doesn’t do laundry until he has this enormous pile of clothes in our closet.  Then he starts it and leaves it all in the laundry room for about a week!  It’s all in various stages – one load in the washer, one in the dryer, clean clothes piled on top of the counter waiting to be put away.  The whole thing makes me avoid that room altogether.  Honestly, it makes me want to pull my hair out.

3. What’s a tradition that always makes you feel at home?

hmmm….I’m not even sure what this is asking….  So, the thing that makes me feel at home if I’m at someone else’s home is when they allow me to help with meal prep or clean up ~ like I’m one of the family.  I don’t want to feel like they are serving me.

On the other hand, if this is asking me what tradition makes me feel like home…slow weekend mornings with coffee, soft music, and a fire in the fireplace.  I don’t think it gets more cozy and homey than that.

4. A favorite song with a girl’s name in the title or lyrics? Any reason why this is a particular favorite?

Well, of course I’ve got to go with this one for obvious reasons.

5. Share a favorite quote, verse, or saying relating to gratitude or thanksgiving.

My favorite thankfulness verse for this week's Hodgepodge questions.

Although, this one really made me stop and think.

My favorite thankfulness verse for this week's Hodgepodge questions.

Right?  I better stop what I’m doing right now and offer some prayers of thanksgiving.

6. Insert your own random thought here.

My son has been gone for two weeks to Navy boot camp, and he is always on my mind.  I pray every day that he is doing well, that he has made a buddy, that he is gaining strength and confidence, and that he is successful in his  endeavors.  I would appreciate your prayers for him and for all the men and women who sacrifice to serve our country.

These are my three boys.  The one on the left is #2 who’s at boot camp.

Well, there you have it.  My answers to this week’s Hodgepodge questions.  How would you answer some of these?  I’d love to hear from you in the comments below.  I’d also love to have you join my email list.  This is just a way for you to receive alerts when I make new posts.  You can do that here.

Until next time~

  1. Hi Jenny, I enjoyed reading your hodgepodge. Three boys…fabulous. I am saying a little prayer for your son in boot camp right now. Our son in law made it through Marine Boot Camp. It was a wonderful experience to go to his graduation. Our former pastor left our church to become a Navy Chaplain. Maybe he’ll meet your son one day. Have a great rest of your week.
