Hodgepodge – This May Be Fun

Hodgepodge – This May Be Fun

Hi there!  Glad you stopped by today.  We are one day away from Friday!!  Hip hip hooray!  Today’s post is answering all the questions for this week’s Hodgepodge.  Maybe you’ll like it.  Ha!  The theme this week is all about may…  See what I did there?  Anyway, I’m linking up at From This Side of the Pond to join in the fun.  I’d love to hear what your answers to these questions would be.  Make sure to leave me a comment below.

1. Can you tell I’m embracing a Cinco de Mayo theme here this week? Do you like Mexican food? What’s your favorite dish? How about on the side-black beans, pinto beans, refried beans, rice? What about heat-mild, medium, hot? Will you celebrate with Mexican food and drink on May 5th aka Cinco de Mayo?

Of course I love Mexican food!  I’m a Texan – we like Tex-Mex.  My favorite dish ~ enchiladas or a burrito or street tacos (hard to pick), refried beans, and Mexican rice.  Yes, please!  I think chips and salsa should be a staple, and I’ve never met a queso I didn’t like. 🙂  HOWEVER, I am a big wimp about it being too spicy.  I prefer mild to medium heat.

On Cinco de Mayo, you will find me enjoying Mexican food & a Grande margarita.  Moreover, I cannot wait!  This question has made me hungry.

2. Ever been to Mexico? For work or holiday? Love it or no? If you haven’t been is this a place you’d like to visit? Can you speak Spanish?

Yes, I’ve been to Mexico for holiday ~ a few times actually.  It involved a beach, sunshine, cocktails, and delicious food.  What’s not to love?   I cannot speak Spanish – which is somewhat of a bummer.  It would sometimes come in handy.

3. What’s one thing you may accomplish this month?

This month, I  may get my vacation planned for this summer along with a graduation party for my senior.  I may also survive keeping my one year old niece and nephew this weekend.  Maybe!

4. If you were mayor of your village, city, or town, what’s one thing you’d like to see changed, done away with, revamped, or accomplished? Is serving in public office something you’ve ever seriously considered?

I’d love to see a signal light added to the intersection I have to make a left turn at every day after picking my son up.  Some days I sit there for quite a while before I can make my turn.  #firstworldproblems
Umm….no.  I have no desire to serve in public office.  I think it’s a thankless job.  You are always making somebody mad.  I just appreciate the people who do serve.  Is that bad of me?

5. What’s something that may be popular, but that you just don’t get?

Ear gauges.  What the what???
I just don't get ear gauges

6. Can’t let this week slip by without mentioning Thursday May 4th is Star Wars Day. As in ‘May the 4th be with you’ ahem. Are you a fan of the Star Wars series? Exactly how much of a fan are you? On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being ‘I’ve seen every film, own the action figures, might have dressed as Darth Vader for Halloween one year‘, and 1 being, ‘what’s a Vader?‘ -where do you land?

Sure, I like the original Star Wars movies.  The newer ones – meh.  I don’t know that I would qualify myself by saying I’m a fan.  However, I live in a house full of boys – so I’ve seen them all, bought action figures, and costumes.  There is a poster on our media room wall.  Still, I would never say they are my favorites.  Guess the force is weak in this one.

7. Scroll back through your blog posts and in three sentences or less tell us the general theme of your fourth blog post. Does it still ring true today? Is it a topic you re-visit on your blog from time to time?

My fourth post was about the ‘one word challenge.’  If you haven’t heard of it, it’s where you choose a word to focus on during the year that sums up an area you won’t to be more mindful of.  I chose the word fearless because I wanted to be fearless in pursuing my goals.  This blog being one.

I don’t revisit the topic often, but I will revisit it again in December or January when I choose a new word.  Do you pick a word for the year?  I’d love to know what it is.  I honestly had forgotten that was my word, so it’s good to have this question remind me.

8.  Insert your own random thought here.

I am going to meet with my book club tonight and I am beyond excited!  This group is made up friends that I’ve had for 20 years (some of them) and I cherish these friendships.  I love getting together to discuss our latest book and catch up with each other.  I love to read, do you?
Until next time~

Right? They’re kind of creepy… Yes, I can always go for Mexican food. Definitely will be partaking tonight! Thanks for dropping by.

  2. Hi!

#4 No, that is not bad of you. We were all put here to serve in different ways. Some do the performing, others are the audience. I’m in the audience with you. 🙂 I absolutely do not want to be on the political stage!

#5 I think those ear gauges look totally terrifying, along with tongue and various-other-places piercings!

#7 My One Word for 2017 is Vision. On 12 December 2016, I was diagnosed with cataracts in both eyes. I may be blind some day sooner rather than later. Because of this, I need a new way of seeing things, both physically and mentally…maybe spiritually, too. I am spending this year looking for my new vision as I await surgery. I do not know when the surgery will happen. The ophthalmologist said these cataracts are not “ripe” yet, so the surgery would be more risky than potentially helpful at this stage. I am perfectly fine to wait on that surgery! Fingers away from the eyeballs and all that. 🙂

#8 YES! David and I both love to read. We have a zillion books around this place. How did things go at your book club meeting? I hope that you had a wonderful time.

I’m sorry that I didn’t get by here earlier. We had to go into Houston yesterday to check on our daughter.

    Have a blessed evening. 🙂

Hi Suzanne. Glad we agree on several of those points. Vision is a PERFECT word for you this year. I hope all goes well when you get the surgery. Book club was awesome, as usual. It’s one of my life’s blessings for sure. Have a wonderful day!

      1. Thank you, Jennifer. 🙂 I have faith that Heavenly Father has my eyes covered. Its the humans that I’m not so sure about. Whatever is meant to be will be. I’m doing my best to make the most of the time in the interim and spending a lot of time taking pictures. I enjoy it very much, even though most of them are not as clear as I would like for them to be.
I am glad that you had an awesome time at your book club. 🙂
        Have a blessed weekend!

  3. i’m with you on the ear gauges – ugh. I didn’t even know what that were called. Hope you have a great week.

Right? They’re kind of gross. I just wonder what happens to those people once they’ve come to their senses… Thanks for visiting.
