Hey there! I’ve got an idea rolling around in my head that I want to run by you. If you’re a reader around here then you already know that I am a reader. I love books and am constantly hunting for the next great read. In fact, I’ve written about a few books here. I am in a book club where I meet good friends every month to talk about the book we decided to read that month. Hearing different opinions is fun and makes the books even more interesting. So, I wonder if you’d like to join me for an online book club?
I am thinking I will throw the month’s book selection out to you. Then, we meet back here in a month and share opinions on what we read and if we liked or disliked the book. What do you think? I hope you’ll want to read along. If one of your goals for 2018 is to do a little more reading, this is perfect. Just a little something to keep you motivated to read. 🙂
So, up for discussion in January is Little Fires Everywhere by Celeste Ng. Here’s how Salon describes the novel.
Set in Ng’s own childhood turf of Shaker Heights, Ohio, “Little Fires” tells the tale of Elena Richardson and her seemingly perfect family, her free spirited tenant Mia and teen daughter Pearl, and a controversial custody battle that divides the community. As the characters careen toward cataclysmic events, they’re swept up in debates about race, class and what it means to be a mother.
You can find out more about this book on Ng’s website here.
I have already started novel, and must admit, I am intrigued. Each time I pick the book up, I am anxious to find out what will happen next.
I hope you’ll meet me back here in January to weigh in on this novel. I’ll look forward to hearing your thoughts then. And, I’d love to know what you think of this idea. Are you in? Let me know in the comments below, and don’t forget to join my email list here.
Until next time~
