Hello friends. It’s almost time for the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. Last year at this time I was introduced to the sale ~ and the rest, as they say, is history. I am now a fan of Nordstrom and shop there frequently. If you’re anything like me you might be thinking that Nordstrom is a little too pricey for your budget. I had that same impression. However, that is 100% untrue ~ especially if you shop their sale. Don’t get me wrong, there are definitely designer, high-dollar items as well; they are just what I look for when I’m shopping. 🙂 Today, I thought I would share with you my picks for the upcoming sale so you can see how do-able this is. I kept everything under $100 ~ mostly.
Before, we get to my picks let me give a quick disclaimer. I am not a fashionista. Nor am I a style expert. I do not follow every trend; however, I do like keeping up with some trends so that ‘my look’ doesn’t become too date…aka too old-looking. I am also not model sized and cannot wear everything I might like to, as it is simply not flattering. So, for these picks, I will be sticking with items that I can/will wear – you will find no crop tops, or tight-fitting tops. I do not wear body con dresses because I would be body self-conscious and uncomfortable. Also, I feel like some of the trends are for a younger crowd and I would not feel comfortable wearing them. Instead, I would feel like I was trying too hard. Do you know what I mean?
I also do not like to spend big dollars on my clothes. For instance, I have still not been able to invest in a pair of high dollar designer jeans. Although, I have heard that once you do, you’ll understand. On the other hand, I do believe in spending more money on items like shoes ~ they take a lot of abuse and MUST be comfortable and well made, in my opinion. I also believe in spending for a good quality handbag if it’s something that is classic and you will carry for years.
Okay, so now you have a feel for my shopping philosophy. Let’s move on to my picks. To see the entire catalog of items or to get more details on the items below, you can shop here. This is where I obtained all my photos as well.
First up, I am all about a cardigan sweater. I am especially loving these longer length ones. I love that I can pair them with just about anything. They are also lighter than a coat, but keep you warm. In Texas the winters can be pretty mild. A heavy coat is not always necessary. These are a good option.
I love this Halogen long, ribbed cardigan. It comes in several colors, but this is the color that will be in my cart. And for under $60 you can’t go wrong.
I also love this Madewell cardigan with the patch pockets. I think this looks super cozy.
This one I also love and it’s cashmere. It’s from Halogen and will set you back $199…I know, that’s a lot (for me anyway) but did I mention it’s cashmere??
Now, let’s talk about denim. Here are a pair of Wit and Wisdom split release hem jeans with Ab Solution. I have another pair by this same brand and I really like them. Moreover, I have noticed this same style of released hems in pricier brands. I think these would be a good way to try the trend without spending a ton. Plus, Ab Solution…who wouldn’t want that? It’s supposed to help hold you in…could be a win/win.
These are Kut from the Kloth jeans. I am always happy with this line. I have loved every pair. These have a step hem, which is another trend I keep seeing. I’m not sure that I am in love with this look or trend, but I may give it a try.
In the fall and winter I love a pair of leggings with a long sweater or tunic. These are really fun Trouve lace-up denim leggings. These are definitely jumping into my cart.
Moving on, let’s look at tops and sweaters.
This Hinge tie sleeve top is one of my picks from the Nordstrom sale. It comes in a few different prints. Bold sleeves are very trendy and these tie sleeves definitely make a statement. I love how this feminine style is paired with distressed, edgy jeans.
I love his Hinge long sleeve ruffle tee. The ruffles are so sweet. It also comes in several colors.
Another pick from the sale is this Halogen tie hem sweater. Also, it comes in several colors, but I love this gray. You could dress this up with a skirt or pants, but I really like this look paired with jeans.
I like the detail of the side ties on this Halogen cashmere sweater. It says it’s lightweight and I think this pink color is sweet.
I love this Caslon plaid and floral shirt. Longer length gets the win plus I love the plaid (available in several color variations) with the floral print on the cuffs and shoulders. This is a definite for me.
Moving on to shoes….my favorite…my happy place. I see this slip on sneaker trend everywhere. What do you think of these Steve Madden slip on sneakers?
Or these from Rebecca Minkoff? How do you feel about the embellishing?
Booties are a staple in the fall and winter. I love the split sides of these Hinge Barris block heel booties. I have another pair of Hinge shoes and have been happy with them.
These Fileanaa split shaft booties from Vince Camuto are a definite pick. I have loved EVERY pair of Vince Camuto shoes. The detailing on these is fantastic and they are available in several colors as well.
Oh my! I just need a date night to wear these sassy sandals. These are the Dolce Vita Hendrix studded sandals and I believe I need them. And speaking of a date night…
How about these lovelies? These are the Sam Edelman tie ankle strap pump. I love them in red for the holidays. Bonus, I’ve heard this line is also comfortable. I guess I am going to find out for myself.
These Eileen Fisher cut out flats are so different from what you typically see. I like that. Also, the band across the top is elastic. So, if you have a narrow foot, like me, these would keep your feet secure.
Also available at the sale are accessories, jewelry, workout wear, PJs, and lingerie. All of which, I have found some good buys. However, for my final picks I am selecting two handbags. This one is the Frye whipstitch hobo handbag and I love it. It’s pricey, but it’s leather and will last you for years. It’s also a classic style and comes in a soft suede as well. I am really considering this. Or, perhaps Mr. LouiseMarie would like to pick this up for Christmas. hint, hint
Now this sweet little clutch would be one way I could jump on the velvet trend. Velvet will be big next season and the sale has tons of options if velvet is your thing. Me? I’m not so sure. However, I could easily carry this bag.
Holy Cow! This post goes on forever. Here’s the final things you need to know. The sale starts July 21. However, if you are a card holder, you get early access. That means, if you like some of what you see here, you still have time to apply for a card and take advantage of the early access. Trust me, there are tons more adorable things in the sale if I didn’t hit on any of your personal favs.
So, how did I do? Did I pick anything that you like? If you’re a Nordstrom shopper, what are your picks? I can’t wait to see how I did as compared to the professional fashion bloggers. I wonder if we will pick any of the same things. Leave me a comment below and tell me which ones are your picks. And, as always, you can join my email list here and never miss a post.
Until next time~
