One Word That Will Change Your Life

One Word That Will Change Your Life

Well hello friends.  Here we are at the end of the year which makes us reflect on the past year ~ the many challenges and the many blessings,  and look ahead to the new year.  I really don’t believe in making a New Year’s resolution. Perhaps because I don’t keep them?  There’s just something about resolutions that makes me feel like I’m getting set up to fail.  They seem like an all or nothing proposition.  However,  I have really enjoyed finding my “One Word” for the new year.   I had the privilege of hearing author Jon Gordon speak two years ago about the power of  One Word.  Since then, I’ve been trying to focus myself on One Word.

This year I am sharing my One Word with you to hold myself accountable and to help inspire you to pick your One Word.

This year my word is (wait for it……)  …..

My focus this year will be on being fearless ~ as in lacking fear.  Some words that describe fearless are bold, brave, courageous, intrepid, valiant, valorous, gallant, plucky, lionhearted, heroic, daring, audacious, indomitable, doughty.  (Okay, I’ve never heard that word before!)

I will start this blog (and hit publish), and I will try to not be afraid of failing.  Can I just say that’s super hard for  type A, perfectionist?   I will be fearless about going for my goals.  There are a few.  I will be fearless about being me, and sharing that with you, fearless about going after my dreams.  I think it’s about time after all. 🙂

In all honesty and full disclosure though, I am still afraid of dressing rooms.  Ridiculous.   Yes, I know.  Still, they absolutely hold power of how my day will go.  Please tell me that someone else out there also would rather do anything else than try on clothes.  Mind you, I am not suggesting that I don’t love fashion or BUYING clothes.  I just prefer to avoid dressing rooms. Doesn’t this mean I have to make extra trips to the store for returns?  Yes – and no.  I order lots online from Nordstrom.  They make it super easy to try and return if it doesn’t work out.  Every order comes with a return label to send it right back.  Easy peasy – dressing room avoided.
