Hey! Glad to see you. I am so excited that I finally get to share our newly improved patio! That’s right, today I will reveal my patio makeover that we’ve been working on for a while. You might remember that I started my patio makeover a few months ago when I wrote about adding life back into your patio furniture here. Well, after that was done, it was time to start making our patio more of an outdoor living space. That is exactly what I have done. So, you want to see the transformation?
First, let me show you what we started with. First, we cleared off the patio and got ready to start this process.
My goal was to turn this space into someplace we’d actually like to hang out and drink a glass of wine or entertain friends. I guess the whole thing started with our landscaping project that I wrote about here. Anyway, with money already invested in the yard, it only makes sense to make it a space you love. So, I scoured Pinterest for photo inspiration. And, as usual, it did not disappoint. These pins inspired my project. Do you love Pinterest as much as I do? I feel like it’s the best thing invented. That’s only a slight exaggeration. 🙂
Lovely, right? Okay, so I wanted to do something similar yet with a close to non-existent budget. I had to use what I had (mostly) and be willing to do the work.
Colorful pillows, something on all that brick to make it look more “decorated,” a comfy place to lounge, and some pattern. My list of requirements included all those things. I began by stenciling my patio. That made a huge impact on the space.
Next, I added some colorful pillows to our table area and placed pots around the patio with beautiful flowers.
I decided to keep the rug I already had to anchor that table space. It does not really work with the newly painted patio; however, it will do for now. I am going to have to look for a new one with a bold pop of color. That will happen at the end of the season.
I also repurposed an old twin bed. You will totally laugh at me when you hear this. SO, when my boys were younger, they shared a room with bunk beds. As they got older, we separated the beds into their own bedrooms. Well, the oldest has now moved out and into his own queen-sized bed. That left me with an unused bed. I decided to make it into a daybed, lounge area. I purchased the daybed cover at World Market and added pillows to it. So, it may scream bed to you, but I can tell you that I have loved going out to lounge on it in the morning with a cup of coffee and a good book.
By adding some things to the wall space I think it feels a little more finished.
Here are a few shots of the completed project.
I love having a bar cart on the patio. It’s great for holding the wine, but it’s also a great place for serving food or cocktails.
We also added some string lights for nights outside.
I think it’s a great place to enjoy a glass of lemonade or a cocktail or two.
Is a patio makeover in your future? If so, there are tons of great ideas on Pinterest. You can follow my board for ideas here. If you want to know more about this project, please feel free to comment below. I’ll be happy to share all I know, and I LOVE hearing from readers. 🙂
Until next time~
