Real Life

So, did you know that Pinterest makes predictions?  I didn't.  However I recently came across an article where Pinterest shared their predictions of the top trends for this year.  They compile data based on of course,  pins.  If they see a particular type of pin increase in percentage a great deal, then they can tell it is going to be an upcoming trend.  It makes sense, right?  Images are pinned on our pin boards based on our own interest.  If there is an increase of, let's say, 246% that shows rising popularity.  Over time trends are revealed.  How's that for my very scientific explanation? Therefore, ...

Hey there friends.  Last month I suggested an idea ~ an online book club of sorts.  I suggested a book to read and promised I would post a discussion question or two for us to "talk" about.  I am so hoping that some of you have read this book and are willing to share your thoughts.  So, the book is Little Fires Everywhere by Celeste Ng.  I found these discussion questions here.  I also borrowed this quick summary of the book in a nutshell (in case you might want to read it).. At first glance, Mrs. Richardson is the perfect mother. She and her family ...

If you've been with me for a while, you may remember that I wrote a post about choosing my one word for 2017.  You can find it here.  The idea of selecting one word for the year is that it helps you to focus on one thing that you really want to work on or improve. An area of your life that needs a little attention.  So,  today I thought it would be fun to revisit my 2017 word and see how I did and reveal my word for this year. Originally I heard about the "one word that will change your life" at a professional development ...

You may find this shocking, especially since we are in prime resolutions time, but I do not make New Year's resolutions.  In fact, I would even say I don't really believe in them.    Either you are reading this and your mouth has fallen open or you're right there with me thinking "me either!"  So, which side do you fall on?  Do you make resolutions at the beginning of each year?  Let me explain to you why I don't make resolutions (and why you shouldn't either). Let me begin by saying, not making a resolution does not mean that I don't reflect on the year ...

Hey there.  You know, January is a good time to look back at the last year and kind of take stock of where you've been.  Along those lines, I thought it would be fun to take a look back at the books I read and pick my favorite books of 2017. First, I was surprised when I looked back at my list to see that I read 27 books this past year. While I realize that many people read a lot more than that, I, nonetheless, impressed myself. (wink) Some I loved and some....not so much.  In case you missed any of the reviews, here's a ...

So, I am enjoying the last few days of my winter break and preparing to head back to reality....work.  I SHOULD be working on my goals, getting posts planned for the year, organizing and cleaning my home after packing up all the holiday decor.  However, instead, I sit here watching Home & Family on the Hallmark channel.   Moreover, I am totally justifying this by telling myself that I need some down time and extra rest...  Anyway, watching this show has really paid off today.  It's gotten me thinking about setting some new habits for the new year. Sure, everyone starts off all gung-ho to slay ...

Hey there!  I've got an idea rolling around in my head that I want to run by you.  If you're a reader around here then you already know that I am a reader.  I love books and am constantly hunting for the next great read.  In fact, I've written about a few books here.   I am in a book club where I meet good friends every month to talk about the book we decided to read that month.  Hearing different opinions is fun and makes the books even more interesting.  So, I wonder if you'd like to join me for an online book club?
