A Few Favs

Ladies, can we have a real, honest conversation?  Today I want to discuss gifts for the teacher - the ones teachers really want.  I know that Teacher Appreciation Week is approaching in a few short weeks, and many of you are trying to come up with adorable gifts for your little one to take to his/her teacher.  Well, let me help you with this task.  After all, you don't really KNOW this teacher.  It's hard to figure out something good, right?  I know exactly what the teacher really wants. I remember the days when I searched high and low for an adorable teacher gift.  You ...

I am one of those girls who likes to look put together when I go out.  Make no mistake.  I said I LIKE to.  It does not always work out that way.  I am a real girl living in the real world.  I have 3 kids, a house to clean, meals to cook, and endless things on my TO DO list - just like everyone else.  Sometimes pulled together is just not going to happen.  However, I find that if I just put on a little lipstick and mascara I feel MUCH better and don't look so much like a walking corpse.  Lipstick is one ...

Hey friends!  As a new blogger, I am learning as I go.  To say there is a huge learning curve is an understatement.  It's not as easy as writing a post and sending it out into the blogosphere.  Not at least if you want to grow a real following or grow a business.  In order to achieve that you have to play the social media game too.  That alone is a full-time job.  You have to get your content out there and reach a lot of people.  And, you have to do it multiple times a day on a consistent basis. Many of you are, ...

Hi there!  Thanks for stopping by.  If you know me, then you already know that I am a shoe girl (aren't we all?).  I believe you cannot have too many shoes.  The more, the better for me.  Hubby completely does not get this.  He says you need a pair of brown, a pair of black, and a pair of tennies.  He would probably add a pair of sandals to this list as well (though they would be seriously unattractive!).  Who cares what he says!  Bring on the shoes!  With a new season quickly approaching (or already here if you're in Texas), it's time to update ...

Hello friends!  I am happy you stopped by today.  I am super excited to share with you a new site I found recently that has the most adorable home decor and artwork.   Out shopping recently in a store near my home I found some artwork and was admiring it when I found out it that it was a Sugarboo and Co. design. To be honest,  I fell in love with this simple book quote as a large framed piece of art.  Have you ever had that happen?   When you see something and are truly touched by it?  Well, that's exactly what happened. As it ...

I am headed out today to shop for some new jewelry. Not the pricey kind, but the trendy, this-won’t-hurt-too-bad kind.  Specifically, I am going to Accessory Concierge in Dallas. I’ve taken a day off work ~ that’s right I’m playing hooky #don'tjudgeme ~ to go shopping. What can I say, sometimes a girl NEEDS to do a little shopping.  Plus reading all those other blogs that mention their awesome picks, has planted the I NEED that seed. I’ve been stalking reading a few blogs lately, and have a serious case of the I WANTs. Does anyone else peruse through blogs or Pinterest and come away thinking ...

Need a Good Read? I  to read. Do you? I have always enjoyed good books and especially a book I can't put down.  They are full of good information, can be uplifting, or maybe just serve as a good escape. A chance to live a life you’ve dreamed of.  I have found a few excellent books for you to check out.  You won't be disappointed. Here’s what I’ve read lately. Black-Eyed Susans If you enjoy books with lots of twists and turns – a la Gillian Flynn - then you’ll love this one.  This is a story of the lucky victim of a series of ...

Hello friends!  How has your week been?  Mine has been tough and full of drama.  More on that later.  Suffice it to say that I am desperately looking forward to the weekend.  Rain is in the forecast, and I would welcome the excuse to lounge on my couch this weekend. 🙂  Anyway, welcome to this week's edition of Hodgepodge from From This Side of the Pond.  Joyce provides the questions and we provide our answers.   1. April showers bring May flowers or so the saying goes. Has your April been filled with showers? Do you carry an umbrella, wear a slicker, or make a ...

Hi there!  Today's the day I share with you some of the things I wonder about.  These are the things that make me go "hmmm..."   If you're a regular around here, you probably noticed that last week, I did no wondering.   That's not because nothing crossed my mind.  Rather, it's because Wednesday snuck up on me and I had an extraordinarily full plate. Life happens, right?  Anyway,  I do have a few things I'm currently wondering about.  I hope you'll weigh in on my thoughts in the comments below.  I really need a remedy for allergies, the low down on deco mesh,  and ...

Hello peeps!  How's your week going?  It's been a bit of a tough week around here.  Lots of visits back and forth to the hospital ~ that's a post for another time though.  Anyway, sorry to have been a little MIA this week.  I'm sure things will get back to the normal routine soon.  In the meantime, here is this week's Hodgepodge. 1. Tell us about a time you felt like you were 'flying by the seat of your pants'. Every.  Single.  Day 2.  When or where would you most like to be 'a fly on the wall'? I have actually recently used this phrase ...

Hello!  Thanks so much for stopping by today!  As usual, I have a few little things that I am wondering about this week.  These are my totally random thoughts (wonderings) and I share them in hopes that someone will tell me they wonder about the same thing.  C'mon, please tell me that some of you have these totally random things cross your mind with seemingly no reason at all.  Anyway, let's not waste another minute, but get right to it. Caramel Car-uh-mel or care-a mel?  Which is the correct way to say it?  And for that matter, what about carmul?  How can one little word and ...

Happy Thursday!  I am so glad we are one step closer to the weekend.  Aren't you?  I have jumped in with  From this Side of the Pond again this week to answer her Hodgepodge questions.  It's always fun to see what she comes up with.  It's even more fun to see what other bloggers write for their answers.  It's funny how we read questions differently.  Anyway, without further ado, on to the questions. 1. April is Lawn and Garden Month. On a scale of 1-10 what's the current state of your lawn and/or garden. (10=a showpiece, 1=send in the professionals). Tell us about any lawn ...

Dressing Age Appropriate As you may have read, I went to the Round Top Antiques Show this past weekend.  I always have so much fun when I go.  We love to shop, have girl time, and escape our everyday responsibilities.  In addition, it provides some great people watching.  This brings my to one of this week's I wonder.  Is there an age that a woman reaches where some clothing items are no longer an option for her?  Perhaps not age appropriate?  Now, I am a firm believer that age is just a number and we can hold off aging with exercise, taking good care of ...

I guess it would be redundant for me to ask you to guess where I went over the weekend.  I kind of gave it away in the title, huh?  Still, I am somewhat amazed.  I have lived in Texas all my life and I had no idea we had a tulip farm.  Moreover, it is only about 45 minutes from me.  Along with the fact that tulips are one of my favorite flowers, this outing was a no-brainer.  So, today I'm going to share with you everything you need to know about visiting Texas Tulips. First of all, you can find Texas Tulips in Aubrey, Texas ...

EI am excited to participate in this week's Hodgepodge from  From This Side of the Pond.  I haven't even read the questions yet so you and I will get to go through them together.   🙂  So, let's see what this week's questions are. 1. 'Beauty is in the eye of the beholder'  What's something you've seen recently that you thought was beautiful? Well, I actually have an answer to this one.  Earlier this week, I was reading another blog and saw that Cassie from hi Sugarplum purchased a piece of art at a charity event.  It was so beautiful to me.  Immediately,  I thought that ...
