Sheaffer Told Me To – So I Did And Here’s What Happened

Friends, I don’t claim to be a fashion blogger.  I claim no expertise whatsoever.  I, like many of you, just try to keep up with the trends so as not to look too dated.  Don’t you think that ages you?   Like many of you, I love a good deal, and more importantly, I want to love what I buy.  That sometimes   usually is no easy task. I appreciate all the help I can get in this area.  So, sometimes I turn to Sheaffer.  Today, I thought I would fill you in.  That’s right.  Sheaffer told me to, so I did.  And, here’s what happened.

First, let me back up a bit.  I stumbled across Sheaffer’s blog a couple of years ago.  She is a fashion blogger.  I have loved some of her picks and some were misses for me.  In fact, I wrote about other picks of hers here.   If you are a reader of Sheaffer’s then you know she is about a  size 4 and a small or extra small in some things.  That. Is. Not. Me.

I am not a size 4, small.  And since, I wear the most common size in our county, I’m thinking many of you are not either.  It might be helpful to know what a size M or L thinks about the picks.  So….without further delay, let’s get to it.

This top is sure to be named a should have been a must have.  It’s a cowl neck top from Free People.  I agree with Sheaffer.  I love this top.  It’s light enough that women of a certain age don’t feel like they are self-combusting, but the long sleeves keep you warm.   Not that I can relate to that at all. {wink} . Also, the cowl neck is loose enough that it won’t set off a hot flash immediately.  This one was a win for me.

Up next, I give you the Itty Bitty Bootcut jeans from Wit and Wisdom.  I’m going to whole heartedly agree with Sheaffer on these as well.  I love them!  They are comfortable thanks to some stretch, but they don’t stretch too much as to be saggy (is that a word?).  The long length and slight boot cut is so flattering.  It makes you feel taller; especially when paired with some heels.  I love the dark wash.  The length is perfect for me~ and I’m only 5′ 5″.  And, I haven’t even mentioned the Ab Solution technology.  Definitely, go order these right now.

The next pair of jeans are  Articles of Society.  And….another win!  These could be called pajama jeans because they are that comfortable.  As I’ve said before, I prefer my jeans to have some give.  I’m mean, I’ve got to be able to breathe, and bend, and eat.  However, the best thing about these jeans is their price point.  They are totally affordable, especially if you pick a pair that’s on sale or at Nordstrom Rack.  They are soft and the raw hem is on trend.  You should definitely give these a try.

The Lush Roll Tab Tunic is another “must have” from Sheaffer.  it comes it lots of colors and it seems there is always at least one on sale.  It’s a long, blousy tunic that you can wear with leggings or jeans.  For me, I have to say…’meh.’  It’s okay.  I’m not in love with it.  I have it in this pink and .black.  It runs true to size ~ mostly.  I got my normal size and it fits in the chest, but it seems a little looser than I’d like.  However, if I went down a size it wouldn’t fit in the chest.  Still, for under $30 on sale, it’s a great option to have in your closet.

And finally, I picked up these Born boots.  Thank you Sheaffer for the suggestion.  I LOVE these boots.  They are so comfortable ~ as in I can wear them and walk in them all day.  The quality is great and I love the plaid lining.  I didn’t have to break them in at all.  Also, the cute tie in the back doesn’t hurt.  I’m so glad I bought these.  And you can too.  They are 25% off right now.

All in all, I have to say these picks worked out great for me.  SO, if you too are not a size small, you can still feel safe with all of these picks.  Also, if you hear Nordstrom and immediately think of high priced items, fear not.  You can find some great deals and good quality items there.  Do you have a favorite pick you can recommend to us?  Share your advice in the comments below.  Also, let me know if posts like these are helpful.

Until next time ~

  1. I love this post! I also love Shaeffer’s blog and her picks. I am definitely not a size 4, and some of the picks work for me and some don’t. For example, the Lush top made me feel huge because it seemed so big and flowing on me. Do some more of these posts! Have a great weekend!
