Hello friends! It’s a Monday – again. However, it’s my LAST Monday of the school year! Summer is so close I can almost taste it. 🙂 So, how was your weekend? I had a pretty low-key weekend. We attended my nephew’s Rite of Passage – more on that later, had dinner with good friends, and a few crafty projects. I also spent a little time on Netflix with my youngest. Is anyone else watching 13 Reasons?
Since it’s the end of the school year, and I am seriously running out of steam, the post I had planned for today isn’t ready. So, I thought I would try something a little different. I have been following a few other bloggers for a while now. One of them is Sheaffer. I visit her blog each week to get her latest fashion picks. Here’s the problem. Other than repeated online shopping, she is a size 2. She order in size XS and S. I do not. EVERYTHING looks cute on a size 2 and fits. That is not always what happens with me.
I’m a very average sized girl. I wish I was smaller, but I’m not. I also love to get new clothes and feel like I’m staying with the trends (somewhat). SO, I’ve tried many of Sheaffer’s suggestions. Some have been a hit and some have been a miss. I thought I would share some of them to help those of you who want to get a perspective from an average girl. So, here goes…
Up first, I ordered these Articles of Society Carly jeans. They are fantastic. I love them. They have some stretch, which makes them comfortable. The raw hem at the ankles is cute and on trend now. Also, the $59 price tag does not break the bank. I will not lose sleep when that trend has run its course and I don’t want to wear them anymore…if that happens. 🙂 They are true to size for me, but fall at my ankle since I’m WAY shorter than the model. 🙂 I am very happy with this buy.
My next purchase was this fringe hemmed top. I love the look. I really wanted this to work out; however, it didn’t. It is going back. Why? Well, it was very tight across the chest. I do not consider myself a busty girl, but this was just too small. It looks really cute though. If you like this top and want to give it a shot, you should know that you will see your bra strap through the top. If that bothers you, you’ll need a tank.
This top was another Sheaffer recommendation. I love it! I love the adorable ruffle on the sleeve and it is beyond soft. It fits true to size for me as well. I do think that $50 is a bit expensive for a t-shirt, but this one is dressier than a normal tee. With white or regular denim, I love it. I know it will be on repeat this summer.
Okay, these next two aren’t Sheaffer’s picks. They’re mine. I ordered this dress for Easter and for my son’s graduation later this month. It fits true to size. I love the bright colors and large-scale print. The shift dress is also a really easy style to wear. I think you could dress this up with heels or dress down with flats. I think you could even throw on a sweater or jacket and wear it with boots in the fall.
This black tee just arrived at my door. I adore it! It’s soft, lightweight, and super comfortable. The v-neck and grommets are really fun; however, it is kind of low-cut. Some of you might want a cami under this. This another one that will be on repeat, and for $32 I think it’s a deal.
Well there you have it. Sheaffer Told Me To. I did. Some hits. Some misses. So, what do you think? Do you like getting feedback from someone who’s not an XS? Let’s face it, not everything on XS looks the same on a M or L, right? I’d love to hear from you. Leave me a comment below.
Until next time~
