Hi there. Glad you’re here! We are mid week for those of you still working hard every day. For those of you on summer break, like me, it’s another day in paradise. 🙂 So, what have you been up to? I’ve been busy on a few project around the house, which you will be seeing soon. I’ve also been fabric shopping so that I can complete my master makeover that I started here. That means more projects are on my horizon before we head back to school. In the meantime, I’m linking up with Joyce from From This Side of the Pond again for this week’s Hodgepodge questions. Ready?
1. When was the last time you chatted with a neighbor? About what? (sharing that last bit is optional)
I chatted with my neighbor 3 days ago. In fact, we went for ice cream. I am so fortunate that we have neighbors with boys the same age. Plus we both enjoy a good dinner and a bottle of wine. Our last visit we talked about our boys, a new job, and getting a dinner planned.
2. River, lake, ocean, or waterfall…which one are you most like and why?
Ocean. Hands down. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy all of them; however, the ocean speaks to my soul. Sitting near the ocean I am reminded of how small and inconsequential I truly am. I think of how life has gone on like this for thousands of years and how it will continue long after I’m gone. The ocean is so big (and scary really) that it tells of God’s power. I am in awe.
3. July 13 is National Delaware Day. Ever been to Delaware? Delaware is called ‘the first state’ because it was the first to declare independence from the British. What’s your state’s nickname and does that moniker make sense to you? If you were in charge, what nickname would you give your home state?
I have never been to Delaware. I think it would be a fun place to visit. My home state is the Lone Star State. The nickname makes total sense as we were the only state to also be an independent Republic. The star on our flag commemorates that and reminds us of our battle for independence from Mexico.
Hmm…I think the nickname is pretty perfect. However, another good one might be ” Texas…hotter than hell.” #justsayin’
4. What dish did you contribute to the last pot luck meal you attended? Do you have a go-to recipe for pot luck suppers?
I think my last potluck dish was our family fav. mac and cheese. If you missed it, you can find the recipe here. Excuse my poor photography skills. The food is really good, I promise. However, I’ve also been known to take a yummy potato casserole to potlucks. That would be my go-to or my broccoli salad, which is delicious. 🙂 I actually really enjoy pot lucks and getting to try other people’s recipes.
5. What is your number one tip for a brand new parent?
My number one tip is one that I wish I would have taken to heart myself and that is ~ relax. It’s all going to be fine. Your child will learn to sleep through the night, and drink, and will get potty trained. It may not always be on your timeline, but it will all happen. No need to add additional stress and worry about it. Just do the best you can and enjoy every minute of it because the days are long, but the years are fast.
6. Insert your own random thought here.
We are planning a trip to northern California and Oregon for a family road trip. Any suggestions of things to see or places to stay? We are starting in San Francisco and heading north to Crater Lake and then back down through the Red Woods. I’d love your advice.
So, how would you answer these questions? Do you prefer the ocean, lake, or river? Tell me in the comments below. Or, feel free to visit the Hodgepodge page to check on some other bloggers’ answers.
Until next time~
