So, did you know that Pinterest makes predictions? I didn’t. However I recently came across an article where Pinterest shared their predictions of the top trends for this year. They compile data based on of course, pins. If they see a particular type of pin increase in percentage a great deal, then they can tell it is going to be an upcoming trend. It makes sense, right? Images are pinned on our pin boards based on our own interest. If there is an increase of, let’s say, 246% that shows rising popularity. Over time trends are revealed. How’s that for my very scientific explanation?
Therefore, based on pin data, Pinterest reveals trends to be on the lookout for women’s fashion in 2018 . By the way, these trends are in no particular order. Ready?
Logos, or brand icons, are making an appearance again. Weren’t these logos popular in the 80s? I’d like to think that this will mainly be a big trend with young people, but I have a feeling we’ll be seeing it everywhere.
Oversize earrings are also an upcoming trend. Personally, I have never felt really comfortable with really large earrings. I’ve always felt they look strange with my short hair. But, that’s just me. Also, I don’t enjoy wearing heavy earrings. They hurt after a while. However, I may have to dip my toe in for this trend.
As a non-size 2, skinny person, I am grateful to know that wide leg pants are gaining in popularity again. Skinny jeans are not universally flattering after all. Don’t get me wrong….I like my skinnies. I’m just saying that wide legs are more flattering. 🙂
Along those same lines, original styled, 100% cotton jeans are making a come back as well. This is one trend I will not be jumping on. I much prefer my jeans to have some stretch. 🙂 Who’s with me on that?
Guess what else is going to be popular? You aren’t going to believe this. It’s so random….berets. That’s right. Those little French artist hats will be seen all over. This begs the question, why?
Wearing layers in long lengths is going to be big this year. In fact, we’re already seeing this trend. And, I admit that for once, I am prepared for this one. Think long cardigans and dusters that go below the knee.
Last but not least, we are going to be seeing a lot of embellished shoes. (Yippee!) . We will find shoes with buckles, studs, and pearls among other embellishments. Like I needed an excuse to add to my shoe collection.
Now you know what to think about adding to your wardrobe if you like following the hottest trends. I generally like to pick up one or two so that my wardrobe doesn’t look too dated. Sometimes it just takes a couple of pieces to keep you “in style.” However, make sure that whatever you buy is something you really love. If you don’t really love it or feel comfortable in it, you won’t wear it. And what good does that do you?
Are you excited about any of these trends? Will you be jumping on the band wagon for one or two? Which ones? I’d love to hear what you think (or where you’ve found some great buys) in the comments below. And, if you want to keep up with more trends, make sure to join my email list here. I will be sharing home decor trends and food and entertaining trends soon.
Until next time ~
