Wall Lamp Makeover

I have some awesome to share with you today.  Paint.  No, it’s not just any paint, it’s Modern Masters metallic paints that I used to give me bedside wall lamps a facelift.  I think probably everyone has some item, lamp or otherwise, that could use a little updating, I am telling, you this stuff is awesome for that!

Now, before I go any further, let me assure you.  I am in no way associated with Modern Masters and am not being paid to write this.  These are just my personal opinions after using this paint on a few projects around my house.  One I took some before and after photos to show you. #thinkingahead

So, I have these wall mounted lamps with an oil rubbed bronze finish.  They’re ok – nothing special.  However, they work great and they are already mounted to my wall.  I felt like it would be better to keep them and give them an update rather than toss them and find new lamps.  Plus, there are tons of things I could spend my money on and this just isn’t a priority.

That’s where Modern Masters comes in.  You can find some here.  I had used this paint before on end tables in my living room.  They had kind of brown finish to the  metal legs.  I’m not sure what to call that.  Anyway, I had painted the legs gold and liked the way it turned out, so I thought, why not.

When it comes to these type of projects, I am in to quick and easy.  I want it done fast.  So, I didn’t want to mess with taking the  lamps down off the wall.  I just grabbed a card flyer that came in the mail and held it against the edge of the lamp between the lamp and the wall.  I grabbed a small paintbrush and quickly painted all the parts of the lamp.  Yep, painting without a net. wink wink.  For this project, I painted 2-3 coats to get the coverage and look I wanted.  Here’s a quick pic while I was painting it.  I could have done less coats and had kind of vintagey look – let’s pretend that’s a real word.

And, here’s a pic of the lamps finished.

I feel pretty happy with the way they turned out.  I still need to add some artwork to the walls here, but that’s a project for another day.  So, if you are needing to update a few things in your home, I recommend this paint.  The only tricky part is finding it.  To save yourself time, I would just order it online.  With this done, I want to use this paint on some other things.  What would you like to see have a metallic finish in your home?  What do you think I should paint?  Don’t forget to comment below and let me know.
