Hey! It’s time for Wednesday Wonderings.~ those things that make me seriously wonder about life and the world around us ~ and let’s be honest…the people in it. From time to time I found myself struck by something that I have seen or heard. However, mostly these are random thoughts that pop into my head. So, what’s been on my mind lately?
Can You Believe Them?
First up this week, I went to the Home and Garden show this past weekend. It was seriously like walking through a gauntlet of hard sales pitches and pushy people. And, we paid to get in! I’m gonna call that outing one and done. On the other hand, if you are in need of a bunch of random reusable bags with company branding on it, you could certainly get hooked up there.
As I was walking through this event, I was struck by the number of vendors repeating the same products over and over. Are there really that many people wanting to buy personal sized shockers to jolt their muscles into action? The say you can use them as a muscle “workout” or as a relaxation tool. Huh?
Anyway, back to my story, I was walking through when a woman stopped me to see if I wanted to try her skincare product. (no, not really) Then, she started with her sales talk. She was surprised when she actually looked at my skin. I swear, there was a small sigh, then she said, “you actually have really good skin.” Dare I say, she sounded surprised?
So I’m wondering, can I believe her at all? I’d like to think she was actually struck by my glowing skin. However, I am a woman of a certain age and I’ve had zero professional work done on my face. With that in mind, I find it very hard to believe. Nonetheless, can I just take the compliment at face value? Can we believe anything salespeople say? Now I’m wondering do I have good skin? Needless to say, I continued my walk and did not buy any products.
As a side note though, is anyone else tempted when they tell you it will fill in wrinkles or turn back the clock? Logically I know it’s impossible, but there is a part of me that always wants to give it a try. Perhaps I am an optimist at heart. (Those of you who know me are probably laughing right now.)
Okay, so I am sticking with the personal stories here for a moment. I have neighbors that we really like. We have kids the same age and we both enjoy the same things, like wine. 🙂 Anyway, the wife recently had surgery ~ it was (I thought) a minor procedure on her hand. She texted me the following day to see if I wanted to go walk with her that afternoon. She later changed her mind though.
Several days go by. I did not check on her or take her a meal. I thought this was like a day procedure, no big deal kind of thing. Later, I heard that people had been dropping off meals and that she couldn’t use her hand for several weeks. I had no idea! This brings me to my I wonder. I wonder, does this make me a bad neighbor? It is seriously weighing on my mind. I feel so inconsiderate. Tell the truth, what would you think if this was you?
** sidenote – I’m taking them a meal this week. Better late than never, right?
TV in the Bedroom?
Okay, so this is a question that I have heard both sides of the argument and still can’t decide. So, years ago I heard that you shouldn’t have a TV in your bedroom as it might interfere with other activities in the bedroom. But today I read an article here, that contradicted that. On the other hand, some people like to go to bed and watch a late show together. Or, what if you’re sick and don’t want to get out of bed? Without a TV in the bedroom, what do you do? Or what if you’re in a house full of men that want to watch something you have no interest in? Where do you escape to for your own entertainment?
These are some serious dilemmas. So, I am wondering, what do you
think? TV in the bedroom okay or not? I have chosen to not have a TV in the bedroom, but it does cross my mind.
Alright friends, there you have it. The things running through my thoughts. I would seriously love to hear from you. Do you have these kind of random thoughts? Do you obsess over stuff like I do? Also, please tell me ~ do I add a TV to the bedroom or not? Comment below and don’t forget to sign up to get my updates delivered to your inbox.
Have a great week friends!
