What’s Up Wednesday Link Up

Hey there!  I’ve decided to participate in the What’s Up Wednesday Link Up with Sheaffer Told Me To, Mix and Match Mama, and The Larson Lingo.  This is a monthly link up on the third Wednesday of each month where we share what’s up with us lately.  If you’ve never visited these ladies’ blogs, do yourself a favor and go visit.  They give great fashion advice, recipes, and other interesting tidbits.   Here are the questions for each month.

So, let’s get right to it.

 What We’re Eating…

Well, this week is hectic being the last week of school.  So, we’re keeping it simple with meatball sliders, our version of Pho (noodles in broth), and  Mr. Louise Marie is making sauerbraten one night.  Obviously, he is the cook n our family.

What I’m Reminiscing About

This time of year makes me really miss the days when my boys were younger and everything about Christmas was magical.  Don’t get me wrong, I love my boys at every age and stage, but I feel nostalgic about those days for sure.

What I’m Loving

That I have two weeks off to spend with my family.  Being a teacher is no easy job ~ no matter what you’ve heard.  It’s a blessing to be able to recharge over the holidays.  So, bring on lazy mornings, workouts before 5pm, game nights, and lunches out.

What We’ve Been Up To

Last weekend took us to Chicago for son #2’s graduation from Navy boot camp.  It was a mix of emotions for sure…pride, joy, sadness (they grow up too fast).  We were able to see some of the Chicago sites and get in some time with son #2.  This momma has missed that boy!

What I’m Dreading

January 1 because that’s when son #2 heads back to school in South Carolina.  I am not ready to do this distance parenting.  It makes me sad to think that he really won’t live with us anymore.  After school, he be shipped out for 6 – 9 months at a time….something else I am dreading. 🙁

What I’m Working On

A gingerbread house decorating party for my niece and nephew.  I have everything just about ready.  I can’t wait for this fun night!

Real pics from the party will follow. 🙂

What I’m Excited About

This guy coming home for Christmas.  To say i am proud would be an understatement, but after eight weeks of boot camp, I am just dying to see him!

On this What's Up Wednesday, here's what I'm excited about.

What I’m Watching/Reading

Well, I’m still hooked on all the Hallmark Christmas movies.  My boys are definitely NOT fans, but I cannot get enough.

I’m also reading a new book.  I wrote about it here.   Maybe you’ll want to read it too.

What I’m Listening To

If I’m listening to music, it’s “Hey, Alexa – play Christmas music.”  I especially love Michael Bubble.

What I’m Wearing

These days I’m wearing Christmas tees every day because that means jeans for school days.  These are my new favs.  They are comfortable ( a must) and they definitely make me feel like I look taller.  Pus they have Ab Solution ~ hey, I’ll take all the help I can get!   🙂

Nodstrom - Wit & Wisdom bootcut jeans are my new favs.

Also, this sweater seems to be on repeat right now, and bonus, it’s on sale!  It’s lightweight, which is great for the weather here – cool in the morning, warm in the afternoon.

What I’m Doing This Weekend

All the family things. 🙂  Cooking, baking, hanging with my boys, church, and Christmas.  I cannot wait!  Christmas Eve is church and probably Christmas movies.  Christmas Day we are hosting the BIG family for the day.  Our home will be overflowing with love and laughter.  Then on the 26th we have another big family celebration with Mr. LouiseMarie’s family.  It’s going to be wonderfully busy and exhausting!

Friends, I hope you have a wonderful holiday.  I hope you are surrounded by loved ones and that you feel the joy of this beautiful season. And, I hope the Peace of our Lord is with you and yours.

My warmest wishes,

  1. Great post. I came over to say Hi. I was your swap partner in the Homemade Exchange.
I was worried about getting your gift off but when I looked up your address I was relieved. I could have driven it over!
But I took it to the p.o. today in my Ace Hardware Store. They promised you’ll get it on Sat.
    I hope you enjoy!
I am checking out your book club!
    Merry Christmas!
